I have been a psychotherapist since 1982 and bring over 30 years of clinical experience and strength to the therapeutic relationship. I use a somatic/energetic approach that originates from body-centered gestalt therapy. This approach addresses issues on a psychological/emotional/physical and spiritual level. Through it I focus on helping you find congruence with your head, heart, and soul. I believe that each person has within them themselves the wisdom for their own healing and growth. Often we unconsciously develop coping mechanisms that help us to survive but also have created disconnection to our own spirit/true self. Disconnection presents in therapy as depression, anxiety, addictions, chronic physical conditions, sexual orientation confusion and gender identity confusion. My role as a therapist is to help you identify the unconscious ways you have been living and develop more conscious ways of listening to your own spirit/true self. With my experience and skills, and your commitment to healing and growth we together find more effective and satisfying ways to live in the present. Through therapy we work through all of life’s transformations to heal what is on the inside and find true peace. It is the greatest reward when someone has a realization and a commitment to life to continue to make healthy changes.
Specialization
I have extensive experience working with LGBTQ clients. I specialize in working with transgender clients and their significant others, (spouses, partners, parents). I also specialize in working with sexual identity issues and I have lead many coming out groups. For the last 5 years I have facilitated a group for women who are heterosexually married and questioning their sexual orientation. I have conducted workshops on sexual identity and gender identity issues both locally and nationally.
